New project executive brings decades of experience as firm invests in expanding portfolio of major projects across the region

MIAMI, Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Shawmut Design and Construction, a leading $2 billion national construction management firm, announced a key hire to support its growth in South Florida's large project sector: project executive Scott Remer. Remer's addition comes as Shawmut expands investment in talent to scale its market presence in South Florida, with a growing pipeline of high-impact projects—notably in the multifamily sector—and a focus on building a deep bench of expert talent in the large, ground-up project space.

In his role, Remer oversees the office and field operations for his projects, serving as the key owner liaison accountable for client satisfaction, process innovation, and project success. In his nearly 20 years in the construction industry, including experience serving as the head of operations for a $300 million general contractor, Remer has led over $3.5 billion worth of work and constructed 15,000 residential units to-date. His project portfolio includes various multi-family project types, assisted living, student housing, interior renovations, warehouses, offices, retail and parking garage structures.

Shawmut's South Florida team has grown by 20 percent in the past three months, and to accommodate its growing team, is expanding its Miami office footprint by 50 percent.

The strategic hires align with the firm's growing multifamily footprint in Florida, including several marquee projects:

• Excel Miami (topped off in July): A 24-story multifamily tower in Miami's Arts & Entertainment District in partnership with Clearline Real Estate. The project will feature 427 apartments and dynamic residential, community, and entertainment spaces.
• 2000 Wynwood (broke ground in August): A 12-story mixed-use project in Miami's Wynwood Arts District that marks Shawmut's second project with Clearline Real Estate. The building will have 310 rental units along with ground floor retail space.
• Manor Miramar: An eight-story luxury midrise apartment complex in Miramar, offering 393 high-end units with standout amenities including a resort-style pool, spa, game simulators, and a miniature bowling alley.
• Town Vineland: A luxury residential community in Orlando with 396 units across 16 three-story buildings, complete with a high-end amenity clubhouse, resort-style pool, and cabana.

In the past two years, Shawmut has made a concerted focus on hiring large project builders out of both its Miami and West Palm Beach offices in South Florida, including the additions of Alexis Leal as head of Florida, Julio Cruz as project executive, and Jean Paul as construction manager, to complement tenured project executive, David Overmyer.
