Investing in businesses that change the world

CHICAGO, July 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Future Fund LLC, a registered SEC advisor, now manages over $200 million in assets across three actively managed ETFs. The firm's strategies are designed to help investors leverage the growth potential of powerful secular megatrends—such as artificial intelligence, climate sustainability, and 24/7 information/entertainment—by investing in companies they believe are poised to benefit from these transformative forces.

The firm was founded in 2021 by Gary Black, Managing Partner, and David Kalis, CFA, Managing Partner, who began working together in 2013. Each has had significant experience in managing growth portfolios for 30 years. Black's career includes leading Goldman Sachs Asset Management as Global CIO Equities, CEO and CIO for Janus Capital Group, Global co-CIO for Calamos Investments, and CEO for Aegon Asset Management US. Kalis was also a co-CIO at Calamos where he headed US Growth Equity; he later founded Curvature Capital Management, a long/short equity hedge firm.

"In our opinion, the next decade will be shaped by companies that leverage secular trends to drive innovation and growth," said Black. "Our suite of actively managed ETFs is built to give investors access to these opportunities—whether through global leaders or emerging small- and mid-cap disruptors—by applying rigorous research and disciplined portfolio management."

Reflecting this unified philosophy, The Future Fund's lineup of actively managed exchange traded funds includes:

  • One Global ETF (FFND), the flagship ETF, which expanded its mandate earlier this year to include global securities, recognizing the growing influence of international innovators.
  • The Future Fund Long/Short ETF (FFLS), a hedged equity strategy that takes long positions in companies the firm believes are in the best positions to exploit megatrends, while taking short positions in companies facing structural headwinds.
  • FundX Future Fund Opportunities ETF (FFOX), launched June 10, 2025, an actively managed ETF focused on small- and mid-cap companies that have the potential to be engines of innovation, leveraging agility and entrepreneurial drive to disrupt established industries.

"We are excited to offer FFOX to our shareholders. It reflects the powerful role small- and mid-cap companies play in driving innovation," said Kalis. "They are often first to adopt new technologies, pioneer product breakthroughs, and expand into emerging markets."

With a commitment to proprietary fundamental research and a disciplined investment process, The Future Fund has built its reputation on identifying companies they believe will benefit from secular change. By focusing on innovation, transparency, and rigorous fundamental analysis, the firm aims to deliver unrecognized equity value and long-term growth for its investors.

ETF investing involves risk and principal loss is possible.  To the extent the Fund's investments are concentrated in or have significant exposure to a particular issuer, industry or group of industries, or asset class, the Fund may be more vulnerable to adverse events affecting such issuer, industry or group of industries, or asset class than if the Fund's investments were more broadly diversified. Investments in small and medium cap companies are subject to additional risks, including the risk that these companies may fall out of favor with investors; may have limited product lines, operating histories, markets or financial resources; or may be dependent upon a limited management group. The prices of securities of small and medium capitalization companies generally are more volatile than those of large capitalization companies.
