Kenneth J Peterson, an esteemed nationally known Financial and Estate Planning professional, with nearly four decades of experience and excellence, continues to make a profound impact in wealth management for his clients and those he has mentored along the way. As President of KJP Capital Management Inc, and associated with the well-respected Mutual Advisors as a Senior Financial and Estate Planner, Mr. Peterson has built a solid reputation for delivering comprehensive financial and estate planning strategies that address the most complex needs of his clients across the nation.

Before establishing himself in the world of financial planning, Mr. Peterson dedicated 15 years of service to the City of Sunnyvale as a Public Safety Officer. This unique position trains its members to be trained as, and serve as, both Police Officers and Firefighters simultaneously. Mr. Petersons skills in pattern recognition and problem solving led him to be awarded the Top Cop designation by Santa Clara County's ICU Bulletin unit; the 2nd most awards for any officer in the County. He also created a unique staffing plan that allowed patrol officers to enjoy weekends off with their families every other month, while maintaining a higher level of manning for fire response. As a critical piece of the Public Safety Officers Association negotiations team, he was able to gain improved and enhanced benefits for his members that were the forerunners of those enjoyed by many officers around the Nation.

Transitioning into Wealth Management, Mr. Peterson quickly excelled in roles of increasing responsibility. After being mentored by an esteemed Certified Financial Planner for 3 years, he was recruited to join Fidelity Investments and rose to become Senior Vice President for Fidelity's then High Net Worth Division Private Access beginning with clients west of the Mississippi. His clientele included well known people in 47 States as well as France and he was able to achieve these clients to enjoy success in managing very complex situations that would benefit their families for multiple generations. Mr. Peterson was recognized with 5 President's Circle awards for excellence and was relied upon as a valuable resource for others in this role nationwide. In 2000, he achieved a milestone of orchestrating the largest transfer in of assets into Fidelity's branch history of over $2billion dollars. This influx required the re- design of Fidelity's computers systems to be able to accurately report on the clients' statements. In addition, using his skills honed in his prior law enforcement career, he was able to assist the US Secret Service in apprehending a criminal responsible for stealing millions of dollars from clients' accounts at other financial firms. The case actually was published in The Readers Digest two years later. 

Mr. Peterson left Fidelity in 2005 to be able to better shepherd his father through 3 major surgeries and joined other firms that provided increased flexibility to do that as well as to serve his client's needs. He joined Strategic Capital Group as a Senior Vice President/Managing Director, which as later acquired by another firm in 2014, then the venerated Protected Investors of America where he thrived under the leadership of his former Fidelity President of Retail Operation Len Stecklow. After they were acquired, he joined AlphaCubed Investments in 2016 as a Senior Financial Planner where he was able to share his wealth of knowledge and experience in helping the forms clients achieve success with elegant plans that addressed their wealth strategies and preserved their estates for their intended heirs. Mr. Peterson joined Mutual Advisors in 2024 to better be able to serve his clients complex needs.
A Certified Financial Planner, Mr. Peterson earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from San Jose State University in 1984. He later pursued coursework towards a Masters of Business Administration in Business Administration and management at Santa Clara University.

Reflecting on standout accomplishments, Mr. Peterson takes pride in moments that reflect the magnitude of his work. Beyond Fidelity's historic transfer, he successfully guided a client- a roofer by trade-with a net worth of $135 million dollars, to adopt a new estate pan that reduced his potential tax liability from over $60million dollars to less than $12million dollars. He smiles as he recounts the meeting that the family had with their well-heeled estate attorneys, where they reviewed the comprehensive plans provided to them, and asked 2 questions: "Can we do this and is it legal?" Their attorney assured them that yes, they could do it and it was all legal and aboveboard and that it would take a little time. He then smiled broadly and added that it would take a little money to accomplish this plan revision that better met their needs. This success for the family is a testament to Mr. Peterson's ability to develop successful wealth building strategies for individuals of all walks of life.

Mr. Peterson will soon be celebrating his 38th anniversary with his wife, Dr Patricia Hanley- Peterson (double PhD Notre Dame 1989). Besides attending hockey games, they enjoy rescuing senior animals from shelters, walking dogs for Humane Society and fostering kittens. Their family of 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and a new great granddaughter are spread across the 4 corners of the US, with their 19-year-old cat, Tobey still in the nest.
