CHICAGO, Sept. 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Museum of Mexican Art proudly announces the election of Diana Palomar, Vice President, Community Engagement for ABC 7 Chicago/WLS-TV, as Chair of the Museum's Board of Trustees.

The Board of Trustees elected the following slate of officers and executive committee at its July, 2025 Board meeting:

  • Chair - Diana Palomar, Vice President, Community Engagement, ABC 7 Chicago/WLS-TV
  • Vice Chair - Elizabeth V. Lopez, Chief of Staff and Assistant General Counsel, United Airlines
  • Treasurer - Aaron Diaz Bianco, Chief Investment Officer, Aronos Capital
  • Secretary - Ricardo Estrada, President & CEO, Metropolitan Family Services
  • Member at Large - Yanet Garcia, Vice President, Construction, Related Midwest
  • Member at Large - Martín Montes, Partner, Barnes & Thornburg LLP
  • Member at Large - Eve Rodriguez Montoya, President & CEO, Rodriguez Media Communications

A Trustee since 2006, Diana has served on numerous committees including strategic planning, executive, gala, marketing/PR and development, and the capital campaign for the Ray Castro Plaza.

"I spent a lot of time in my youth on 18th Street, 'la dieciocho,' as we used to call it, but rarely as an adult," said Diana. "In 1997, I attended the opening of African Presence in Mexico at the then-named Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum, and knew instantly I wanted to be involved. Walking through the exhibit, I learned of a time in Mexico's history I had not heard of before.

"I still learn from and revel in the beautiful, passionate storytelling of Mexican and Mexican-American artists that fills the National Museum of Mexican Art; and I still hold that same excitement, awe and pride. I don't know if I have become part of this Museum as much as it has become a part of me. I will work to serve it with respect for its history and the community it has served for nearly 40 years, and to protect the Museum's legacy while looking toward the future."

The National Museum of Mexican Art also extends its deepest gratitude to Carlos R. Cardenas, Senior Vice President Group Manager at Wintrust Commercial Bank, who is stepping down after 10 years of dedicated service as Chair. He will continue on as Immediate Past Chair.
