Over the past year, the Traditional Medicinals Foundation has awarded over $75,000 in grants to nonprofit partners advancing health and herbal wellness access in their communities. In parallel, Traditional Medicinals has invested more than $200,000 in broadening access to high-quality herbal wellness—including herbal education, community health programs, and consumer education around trusted certifications like Organic, Fair for Life, and FairWild. Together, these efforts reflect a deep commitment to making trusted herbal care more accessible for all.

Now celebrating its 50th year, Traditional Medicinals is honoring its legacy by giving back in a community-led way. The Herbs for All initiative affirms the company's belief that herbal wellness is a right, not a luxury, and launches two cornerstone programs: Planting Wellness, a community grant initiative, and Plant Wisdom Collective, a free digital education platform.

"For 50 years, we've learned from the communities who grow, use, and share plant wisdom," said Chief Purpose Officer at Traditional Medicinals Jamie Horst. "Herbs for All is about giving back—partnering with those who've carried these traditions and expanding access to high-quality herbal wellness for people who've too often been left out. This is how we honor our legacy: by making herbal care more accessible, more inclusive, and more rooted in the community than ever before.

For thousands of years, herbs have nourished, healed, and strengthened communities. Planting Wellness builds on that tradition by funding grassroots nonprofits that preserve and share herbal knowledge in underserved areas. Backed by the Traditional Medicinals Foundation, the program provides $20,000 grants to support locally tailored workshops, healing spaces, and hands-on learning. 2025 anchor partners include:

  • Oko Farms (Brooklyn, NY)Beginning June 2025
    Educator Yemi Amu founded Oko Farms in 2013, transforming an abandoned lot into NYC's first outdoor aquaponics farm. Today, the site is a hub for youth and adult workshops in sustainable agriculture and herbalism. The grant will fund expanded educational programming rooted in environmental justice and ancestral knowledge.
  • The Botanical Bus (Sonoma County, CA) – Beginning September 2025
    Longtime partner The Botanical Bus delivers bilingual, culturally grounded care—including herbalism, acupuncture, and massage—directly to Latine and Indigenous communities. With Traditional Medicinal's support, the mobile clinic will expand its community-led healing events and herbal medicine-making workshops.

"With Planting Wellness, we're supporting the real leaders of community health—organizations that have been cultivating knowledge and resilience for generations," said Jamie Horst. "We're proud to stand beside them as long-term partners in expanding access to plant-based wellness."

The program will expand nationally in 2026, with up to 10 nonprofits selected annually to receive mini-grants.

Traditional Medicinals Plant Wisdom Collective: A Free Herbal Education Platform
Herbal wellness often begins in the simplest of ways—with a cup of tea and a moment of curiosity. Plant Wisdom Collective invites people to explore that curiosity by engaging in a free video series that discusses the art, science, and tradition of herbal medicine. Led by Traditional Medicinals Chief Science Officer Dr. Taryn Forrelli, ND,  and Senior Scientist and Herbalist Guido Masé, Principal, the four-part series explores the roots of herbalism, the value of high-quality sourcing, and how tradition and science meet in modern herbal formulations. Engaging conversations with herbal experts uncover what makes herbs truly powerful—from how they're grown to how they're blended for taste and function. The Plant Wisdom Collective experience also includes:

  • A curated Plant Wisdom Collective Kit featuring herbal teas and a hands-on herbal preparation guide;
  • An interactive landing page where users can stream the series, take a quiz, and earn a certificate of completion.

"Plant Wisdom Collective was born out of our deep belief that herbal wellness should be accessible, practical, and empowering," said Taryn Forrelli, ND. "This series offers a welcoming place to learn from trusted herbalists and start building a meaningful relationship with plants—wherever you are in your journey."

As Traditional Medicinals celebrates 50 years of herbal expertise, Herbs for All represents both a celebration and a call to action. It honors communities that have long preserved traditional plant medicine and that look to the future by ensuring that more people can access the healing potential of herbs. Whether through a neighborhood farm workshop or a virtual lesson at home, this initiative is about connection to nature, culture, and one another.
