UMA AND MILA: NEW SEATING DUO FROM BOSS DESIGN BRINGS COMFORT, ELEGANCE AND SUSTAINABILITY
HIGH POINT, N.C., June 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Boss Design is pleased to announce Uma and Mila, two new seating lines crafted for next-level comfort and designed to bring eye-catching elegance across workspace and hospitality settings – both manufactured with a focus on sustainability.
Uma redefines the executive chair with a slimline look and the smooth, organic lines Boss furniture is known for. While other boardroom seating typically feels firm to sit in, Uma maximizes the comfort with a generously cushioned seat, supportive back and tactile armrests.
Luxurious comfort is firmly in focus with the Mila line of lounge seating, including a two-seat sofa and an armchair, plus a high-backed single seat that has a foam-padded surround for added privacy. A firm surround forms the back and sides while pillow-like loose cushions and an extra-deep layered foam seat wrap the sitter in residential-style comfort.
"Both Uma and Mila exemplify Boss Designs' focus on craftsmanship, superb design and sustainability, helping interior specifiers create environments that appeal to the eye but – just as importantly – feel comfortable to be in. Each has its own character, but both have gentle, organic forms in harmony with our other lines such as Remi, Amelia and Paloma," says Dan Chong, President of Boss Design, North America.
FLEXIBILITY AND CHARACTER
Visually, both Uma and Mila project personality through their individual forms yet adapt extremely well to a variety of settings and décor schemes.
With its defined outer shell, Mila gives a sense of coziness, cocooning the sitter in softness, inviting them to rest, relax and enjoy a moment of serenity. This makes Mila chairs and sofas perfect for snug lounge settings but they can also be used to configure fascinating topographies across wider areas. By positioning low- and high-back units side-by-side or back-to-back, islands of comfort can be shaped throughout the setting.
Uma's characterful silhouette is sleek and elegant. Upholstered in leather, it's the ideal chair for leadership spaces. However, Uma's gentle, organic lines give it the versatility to move beyond the boardroom and with playful patterns or a two-tone look, it sits easily in meeting, breakout and touchdown areas. Comfortable enough for a full day's work, Uma is also an excellent task chair positioned amongst desks and tabling.
"When you sit into Uma, the back has a beautiful shape that flows with the spine, and where your lower back touches the chair we've inset a panel of softer foam to augment the comfort while providing ergonomic support," says Aaron Clarkson, who designed both Uma and Mila.
SUSTAINABILITY IN PRACTICE
Sustainability is integral to the design process at Boss, and this is demonstrated once again with Uma and Mila. The Bio-PUR® foam that gives Uma its super-soft seat has a carbon footprint 75% lower than conventional PU foam. The innovative felt-foam process we've applied that gives the seat a soft center while the edges remain firm making for a durable chair that can be re-upholstered for second life use.
By using just four principal materials – plywood, foam, fabric and steel – Mila simplifies supply chains and lowers carbon impact. Both products have been designed for longevity through both the timeless appeal their aesthetics and in their build quality. No permanent connections are used in manufacturing, making both products straightforward to refurbish and reupholster for continued use instead of replacement. Likewise, their materials are easily separated for end-of-life recycling.
