NEW YORK and PARIS, Sept. 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Kids have opinions – especially when it comes to vacations. According to new research, 86% of kids admit they want more of a say in vacation planning, and with parents taking an average of three months to plan a trip, they might appreciate the help. As families start looking ahead to the holidays, spring break and even next summer, Trainline, Europe's #1 train ticket booking app, is making it easier to plan trips that work for everyone.

Trainline launches new toolkit

Anchored by a new partnership with noughties icon, actress and singer Christina Milian and her daughter, Violet Madison Nash, Trainline has launched "On Track for a Family Vacation," a toolkit that shows how travel becomes easier, more fun, and more meaningful when the whole family helps plan.

"Since moving to Paris two years ago, we've loved exploring Europe by train," said Christina. "Involving my kids in the planning, from choosing activities to mapping out routes, has been a game changer. It takes the pressure off me and makes the journey so much more meaningful. Watching their excitement as we discover new cities together is the best part."

To kick off the campaign, the duo is sharing their go-to destinations – from Marseille (Christina's pick) to Strasbourg (Violet's pick) – as well as travel hacks and must-pack items. Their tips? Snack breaks in the train café, card games on board, and TikToks en route with siblings. See the full guide here.

Tools to Get Families "On Track"

For those dreaming of a family vacation in Europe in the coming months, Trainline, with Christina and Violet's help, has launched a series of resources to get the entire family in on the planning process, including:

  • What Kind of European Traveler are You? A family-friendly quiz to help each member discover their travel style. Options range from Sun Seekers who crave beaches and coastlines, to Nature-Loving Nomads eager to explore the outdoors, Epicurean Explorers guided by their taste buds, Culture Connoisseurs drawn to history and style, and #ForYouPage Fanatics curating the perfect feed. Each personality type comes with a matching itinerary featuring rail-friendly European destinations and activities, with some of Christina and Violet's favorites included.
  • Your Ultimate Family Vacation Checklist. A guide featuring everything families need to know about rail travel and booking the perfect trip in Europe for all their vacations ahead.

"Kids don't want to tag along, they want to help shape every trip," said Sarah Helppi, General Manager at Trainline. "Christina and Violet show how planning together makes family travel exciting and stress-free. At Trainline, we're proud to make it easier for families to plan trips that balance everyone's interests, from picking a rail route and booking the tickets to making the journey a part of the adventure."

What Families Want Most

Trainline's survey also revealed what else parents and kids are looking for in a European vacation this year:

  • Train travel for the win: 78% of parents recommend European train travel to reduce stress and maximize family time. Parents love taking in the scenery (45%) and uninterrupted time to chat or relax (20%), while kids say window views (40%) are the most fun part of train travel.
  • Different dream trips: 26% of parents prefer city adventures, while 34% of kids want beach vacations. Traveling by train can fit everyone's picks into a single itinerary.
  • Flexing for the kids: 73% of parents adjust a trip to suit their kids' preferences, but 37% of kids still wish they could choose more activities or places themselves. Meanwhile, 43% of kids want to visit places they've seen on social media or that promise great photo opportunities.
