ANSI Appoints Jim Thomas as Senior Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer
NEW YORK, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Thomas as senior vice president and chief business development officer, effective July 7. Working across the entire ANSI enterprise, Thomas will lead efforts to identify and pursue opportunities for strategic growth, diversify revenue streams, and amplify ANSI's impact across its broad portfolio of work.
With an extensive track record of experience in the standardization community, Thomas brings with him a deep knowledge of the U.S. and international standards systems. Most recently, he was chief partnership officer at Accuris, where he worked closely with standards developing organizations (SDOs) and National Standards Bodies (NSBs) to position Accuris as a strategic partner across their diverse portfolios, in addition to growing their collection of standards, regulations, and other engineering content. Prior to joining Accuris, he was vice president of global sales and partnerships for S&P Global Engineering Solutions. Thomas also spent more than 16 years at ASTM International, holding positions including vice president of sales and marketing. There, he established long-term, process-oriented visions and strategies for customer service, marketing, and sales, and provided oversight for developing, implementing, positioning, and pricing new global programs and products.
"On behalf of ANSI's staff and board of directors, we are truly excited to welcome Jim to ANSI. His widespread knowledge and talent in business growth and diversification, particularly related to standardization, will be instrumental in helping ANSI fulfil our mission and broaden our positive impact," said Dr. Laurie E. Locascio, ANSI president and CEO. "This position is formed at a critical moment when traditional business approaches in the standards community are evolving—and it is more important than ever that ANSI serves as a beacon for the U.S. standards system globally and supports the development of standards policy that benefits U.S. economic growth and innovation."
"I look forward to working with ANSI staff in support of the organization's mission, and supporting the Institute's members and customers through partnerships and innovative solutions," said Thomas. "At Accuris, our team worked every day with SDOs and NSBs to make their critical content accessible to engineers and technical professionals. I aim to continue that mission in my new role at ANSI, building a bridge between standards developers, businesses, and the end-users who use this information to make the world a better place."
