The ranking was published by American Banker on July 3, 2025, and developed by Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm Capital Performance Group. It is based on the three-year average return on equity from 2022 to 2024. A total of 348 institutions met the qualifications for inclusion in this year's analysis.
