ICT ministry hosts APEC ministerial meeting on digital, AI innovation

Korea's science ministry hosted a ministerial meeting Monday with delegations from the Asia-Pacific region to discuss cooperation in the field of digital and artificial intelligence (AI). The 2025 Digital and AI Ministerial Meeting took place in Incheon, west of Seoul, to foster cooperation among Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members in the AI sector, according to the Ministry of Science and ICT. "Our future will depend on how we address the wave of major transitions driven by digital technology and AI," Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon said in his opening remarks. "Cutting-edge digital technologies and AI will offer new opportunities to tackle the challenges ahead," Bae added. It was his first time chairing an international meeting since taking office last month. Bae said he hopes the meeting paves the way for members to collaborate based on innovation, connectivity and ecosystems. The event comes ahead of the APEC summit scheduled for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 in the southeastern city of Gyeongju.
