New Survey Reveals Arizona Pet Owners Prioritize Quality Time and Adventures with Their Pet--but Majority Are Skipping Crucial Preventive Care
VANCOUVER, Wash., June 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of its 70th anniversary, Banfield Pet Hospital, the nation's leading provider of high-quality preventive care, surveyed 5,000 owners across the U.S. to uncover state-by-state pet owner superlatives.
According to these new findings, owners in Arizona are among the most likely to …
… Spend the most time by their pet's side:
- Ranked among the top five states for spending the most time cuddling with their pet (145.3 minutes).
- Ranked No. 5. for spending the most amount of time per day with their pet (12.2 hours).
- Nearly a quarter (24%) say they spend 24 hours a day with their pet.
The quality time doesn't stop there; of those surveyed:
- 44% said their pet is always ready to explore, either inside or outside.
- 37% say their pets love going on walks to new places.
- 26% say their pet is always eager to jump in the car with them.
- 16% regularly go on road trips.
- 10% have only taken vacations where their pet can tag along.
Despite these heartwarming findings, 87% are likely to miss a flea/tick preventive treatment. This is particularly concerning because:
- By the time owners notice signs of fleas, their pet can already be suffering the effects, and fleas can have already laid eggs in carpet and furniture.
- Tick populations are growing and can spread serious diseases to pets and people, including tick paralysis, Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, tularemia and babesiosis.
- Year-round parasite prevention with a veterinarian-approved medication is key— especially in the summer months when spending more time outside!
With Banfield Pet Hospital locations across the state, pet owners in Arizona have convenient access to preventive care that can help keep their pets adventuring.
