President Lee pledges S. Korea’s leadership in responsible AI at UN Security Council

President Lee Jae Myung pledged that South Korea, as a “responsible global power,” will lead international efforts to ensure artificial intelligence (AI) serves as a tool for humanity’s sustainable future. He made the remarks while presiding over a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) open debate at UN headquarters in New York, marking the very first time a South Korean head of state has chaired such a session. “In how we choose to wield AI, entirely different futures lie before us,” Lee said in his opening statement.
