U.S. News Relaunches Best Leaders
The Best Leaders program recognizes 25 outstanding individuals driving progress in sectors that affect every American; nomination period now open.
WASHINGTON, June 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in rankings and data journalism, today announced the return of its Best Leaders recognition program. The 2025 honors will spotlight 25 exceptional individuals across public service, business, health care and education who are making a meaningful difference in their communities and across the nation.
"This is a pivotal moment for leadership, and the right time to bring back our beloved 'Best Leaders' to highlight and celebrate those who don't just influence us, but inspire us through principled, visionary leadership," said Dafna Linzer, U.S. News' editorial director and executive vice president. "In 2025, we will apply our data-driven rigor to honor 25 remarkable individuals who demonstrate the character, courage and clarity that define great leaders."
Nominations are now open through June 25. Best Leaders will be selected based on key leadership traits, including their vision, integrity and hard work. U.S. News partnered with global market research firm The Harris Poll to conduct a nationally representative survey identifying the leadership characteristics Americans value most.
A panel of expert judges – including respected leaders from across industries – will evaluate the submissions. Confirmed judges include Alex Azar, former secretary for the United States Department of Health and Human Services; Nicole Elam, president and CEO of the National Bankers Association; Ezekiel Emanuel, vice provost for global initiatives and chairperson for the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania; Chip Kahn, president and CEO of the Federation of American Hospitals; Dan Porterfield, president of the Aspen Institute; Dr. Heidi Shierholz, president of the Economic Policy Institute; and Christine Todd Whitman, former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency and president of the Whitman Strategy Group, among others.
