GridUnity's GridInterConnect™ platform will manage the end-to-end large-generation interconnection process for Public Service Company of Colorado, ensuring FERC Order 2023 compliance and expanding GridUnity's strategic presence in the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) power market.

SUMMIT, N.J., July 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- GridUnity, a leading provider of intelligent grid connection solutions, announced today that Xcel Energy has selected its GridInterConnect™ for Transmission platform to manage the full lifecycle of large-generation interconnection projects for Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCo). This move follows GridUnity's rapidly expanding footprint in the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) region, which spans 14 Western U.S. states and extends from Canada to Mexico. WECC is preparing for 172 GW of new generation and significant load growth over the next decade—driven by electrification trends and evolving system needs.

With this deployment, PSCo is advancing its commitment to infrastructure modernization and process efficiency. The GridInterConnect platform will support compliance with FERC Order 2023 and streamline the cluster study and cost allocation processes, while enhancing visibility for all stakeholders. Looking ahead, the platform's AI-driven insights will enable smarter forecasting, cost estimation, and resource planning as project complexity grows.

"To meet the marked increase in new generator interconnections for resources to serve growing demands, we are transforming how we manage both interconnection and transmission planning," said Kevin Pera, OATT Program Manager with Xcel Energy. "GridUnity's platform offers the automation, transparency, and coordination required to keep projects on track and ensure grid reliability as we scale new generation. Its integrated study management capabilities will allow us to streamline cluster evaluations, manage task assignments, and improve the accuracy of cost estimates across our service territory. Looking ahead, we see strong potential in leveraging GridUnity's AI capabilities to further enhance forecasting and optimize decision-making throughout the interconnection lifecycle."

"Xcel's leadership in grid innovation reflects the urgency facing the transmission sector," said Brian Fitzsimons, CEO of GridUnity. "Our collaboration in the WECC region builds on our shared commitment to accelerate infrastructure deployment and empower decision-makers with trusted, real-time data. By establishing a unified system of record across PSCo's territory, we're also laying the groundwork for a powerful network effect that will streamline coordination between developers, transmission owners, and planning teams."

GridUnity's GridInterConnect software replaces manual and siloed workflows with a centralized, AI-driven platform that supports the complete interconnection lifecycle management process from pre-application information publishing all the way through to project commissioning. Its unique intelligence capabilities ensure continuous learning while delivering core functions like real-time data validation, task tracking, deadline management and secure integration with enterprise tools such as SAP, Oracle financials and the leading powerflow solvers used in grid analysis.

The Key Features of GridInterConnect for Transmission:

- FERC Order 2023 Compliance: GridInterConnect manages cluster studies, automating some key parts of the current manual process to accelerate it, resulting in shorter queues and quicker interconnection.

- Improved Customer Transparency: As a system of record for the entire interconnection process, the GridUnity platform offers constantly accessible updated project information, removing long waits and guess work from the process.

- The Network Effect: Enabling real-time, curated, secure data sharing between ISOs, Transmission Owners, and developers, GridInterConnect fosters seamless coordination and a unified audit trail. The shared platform unlocks AI-driven insights from a centralized Data Lake, accelerating approvals and empowering stakeholders to innovate across the interconnection lifecycle.

- Audit Logs: The GridInterConnect software tracks all applications, communications, payments, and project progress so it can be reviewed either in aggregate to provide critical data for ongoing system improvements or individually to deliver a clear project timeline and narrative.

- Integration With Utility Systems: The GridUnity platform integrates with existing utility software through secure APIs to bring together multiple functions across the utility, improving internal communication and ensuring data fidelity. Systems often integrated with the GridUnity platform include SAP, Oracle, financial accounting software, and Powerflow tools including Siemens, Pearl Street, CYME and others.

- Security: With SOC 2 version 2 and NIST 800-171 certification, the GridUnity platform is hosted on AWS with geographic redundancy and role-based security.
