Rogers to help scale investments in sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, agriculture, and nature-based projects

STAMFORD, Conn., May 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Pegasus Capital Advisors, a leading private equity firm specializing in blended sustainable investments across climate, food, water, and ocean ecosystems, today announced the appointment of Jean Rogers as Senior Operating Advisor. Rogers, a pioneering leader in sustainable finance, and former Senior Managing Director at Blackstone, will help drive Pegasus's next phase of growth by scaling investments that deliver strong returns for investors while advancing climate resilience, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and water systems across emerging markets.

Widely recognized as the founder of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board — now a core part of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) framework — Rogers has spent her career integrating sustainability into mainstream investment analysis. At Blackstone, she guided private equity and credit investments to align with climate and sustainability priorities, helping deploy over $12 billion into energy transition and climate solutions globally.

"Jean helped set the global standards for sustainable investing and moved billions of dollars into energy, climate, and infrastructure projects," said Craig Cogut, Founder and Chairman of Pegasus Capital Advisors. "At Pegasus, we invest in projects that create jobs, expand clean energy and water access, and strengthen local economies across the Global South. Jean brings the leadership and focus to help us grow this work at a time when it's more important than ever."

In her new role, Rogers will serve on the investment committees of the Subnational Climate Fund and the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, two of the world's leading blended finance vehicles managed by Pegasus Capital Advisors. She will help guide investment decisions, governance, and impact reporting — including Article 9-aligned funds that meet the highest standards for sustainable investment and transparency. As the world's only private equity firm with a partnership agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Pegasus Capital implements projects through collaboration with local governments.

"Pegasus Capital has been working in emerging markets to strengthen agriculture, energy infrastructure, water systems, and ocean health — while creating value for investors and jobs for communities— for decades, not just making promises," said Rogers. "They put the unique needs of each development project first, not the limits of a fund, which is rare. Their success comes from the team's deep expertise in these sectors and trusted relationships on the ground. I'm excited to help scale this important work in sustainable development and energy transition in the Global South at this defining moment of critical demand, thematic tailwinds and diversification benefits for investors."

Rogers joins Pegasus Capital following a recent $20 million investment in the Subnational Climate Fund to support infrastructure and agriculture projects across the Global South. The fund targets generating 1.8 billion kWh of renewable energy annually, creating 20,000 jobs, improving the lives of 17 million people, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80 million tons.

"At Pegasus, we're about two things: generating great returns for our LPs and great impact for communities around the world," said David Cogut, Co-Managing Partner at Pegasus Capital. "Jean brings world-class leadership in sustainable finance and governance, and a commitment to driving investments that build stronger communities, better infrastructure, and lasting value."

Rogers's experience also includes serving on the boards of leading organizations such as The Jane Goodall Institute, Woodwell Climate Research Center, and Xpansiv, an environmental commodities platform advancing voluntary carbon markets. She has been recognized among Barron's Top 20 Influencers of Sustainable Investing and honored by INSEAD as a Society of Progress Medal Laureate.

Rogers will work alongside other senior Pegasus Capital advisors who bring decades of leadership across climate policy, corporate innovation, and environmental governance —  including Gina McCarthy (former White House National Climate Advisor and U.S. EPA Administrator), Paola de Almeida (former Chief Innovation Officer at Mars, Inc.), and Terry Tamminen (former Secretary of the California EPA).
