CiteAb Reveals the Top 100 Cited RUO Antibodies: Highlighting Antibody Market Leaders and Emerging Research Trends
New 2025 dataset shows Cell Signaling Technology, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Abcam lead the antibody market despite challengers, as well as the continued impact of recombinant and secondary antibodies.
BATH, England, Oct. 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- CiteAb, a Sci-Tech company specialising in data collection, has released its annual Top 100 Most Cited Antibodies dataset, based on AI-driven text-mining of product use across millions of life science publications. In a competitive landscape with over 8 million research-use-only (RUO) antibody products, this dataset reveals which suppliers and reagents are driving breakthroughs.
This year's ranking shows continued dominance by major suppliers, with Cell Signaling Technology, Abcam, a Danaher company and Thermo Fisher Scientific supplying over two thirds of the top 100 antibodies. Growing players to watch included ABclonal and Proteintech.
Key Trends
- Recombinant monoclonal antibodies comprised nearly a quarter of the top 100, highlighting ongoing interest in renewable antibodies.
- Secondary antibodies saw a notable rise, comprising 38% of the top 100 products.
- Conjugated antibodies (such as Alexa Fluor and IRDye-tagged reagents) also saw increasing use, pointing to continued interest in imaging applications.
- New antibodies entered the top 100, with a Proteintech GAPDH antibody entering the top 10.
"RUO antibodies play a critical role in research, and this data provides a valuable snapshot of what scientists are actually using," said CiteAb CEO, Dr Andrew Chalmers. "The top 100 list offers insight not only into vendor performance but also into where the research community is heading, from the use of recombinant antibodies to imaging applications. These insights help researchers, suppliers, and investors understand the field."
The full dataset - available for free download - includes company names, product names, and rank. CiteAb's Top 100 series continues later this year with datasets covering cell lines and bioactive small molecules.
