[Contribution] 75th anniversary of the Incheon Landing Operation: From miracle at sea to world-class city

Today, Incheon commemorates the miraculous day when the sea, sky and land came together with one purpose. On Sept. 15, 1950, the Incheon Landing Operation became a defining moment in history, showcasing humanity’s great solidarity in pursuit of freedom and peace. Without the noble sacrifice and courage of people from 22 nations, today’s Republic of Korea would not exist. We must also remember the selfless Navy intelligence unit members who gave their lives to light the Palmido Lighthouse, as well as the pain of Wolmi Island residents who lost their homes during the air bombardment. The landing was made possible by 75,000 troops, 261 warships and countless others who gave their lives out of sight. Without their sacrifice and courage, Korea might have taken a very different path. The freedom and prosperity we enjoy today are priceless legacies built on the blood and sweat of all those heroes. Incheon has since risen from the scars of war to become a hub of peace and cooperation in Northeast Asia.
