FP Canada™ Honours Seven Award Recipients for Contributions to the Financial Planning Profession
TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2025 /CNW/ - FP Canada today announces the 2025 recipients of four prestigious awards and distinctions. Debbie Ammeter (a former CFP® professional and current FP Retired™ status holder) and Carolyn Fallis, CFP, have been honoured with the Donald J. Johnston Lifetime Achievement Award, and Julie Seberras with FP Canada™ Fellow Distinction. Martin Dupras, F.Pl., and David Wild are the inaugural recipients of the FP Canada Award of Distinction, and Aravind Sithamparapillai, CFP, and Desmond Nwaerondu, CFP, are the inaugural recipients of the FP Canada Emerging Leader Award.
The Donald J. Johnston Lifetime Achievement Award and FP Canada Fellow distinction are well-established honours, while the Award of Distinction and Emerging Leader Award were introduced this year to provide new opportunities to recognize deserving individuals.

The Donald J. Johnston Lifetime Achievement Award and FP Canada Fellow Distinction
The Donald J. Johnston Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes profound lifetime contributions to FP Canada's certifications and the financial planning profession. It's named after Donald J. Johnston, who led FP Canada through its first successful decade. This year's recipients are Debbie Ammeter and Carolyn Fallis.
Debbie Ammeter, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, previously served as Vice President, Advanced Financial Planning at Investors Group, and is currently a commissioner with the Manitoba Securities Commission. She has many years of volunteer experience with FP Canada, which include serving on and chairing the FP Canada Board of Directors. Carolyn Fallis, based in Toronto, Ontario, is Professor and Coordinator, Financial Planning at George Brown College. She has served on FP Canada's Board of Directors and is currently Chair of the Canadian Foundation for Financial Planning™.
The FP Canada Fellow Distinction is an esteemed honour recognizing Certified Financial Planner® professionals, Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ professionals, and FP Retired status holders who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of professional financial planning. Julie Seberras, CFP, earned the distinction this year.
Julie Seberras, based in Toronto, Ontario, is Head of Wealth Planning and Practice Management at Manulife. She is currently Chair of the FP Canada Standards Council™ Standards Panel.
The FP Canada Award of Distinction and Emerging Leader Award
The Award of Distinction honours individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the profession and are not certified as professional financial planners by FP Canada. Martin Dupras and David Wild are the first to earn this award.
Martin Dupras, based in Montreal, Québec, is the owner and founder of ConFor Financiers Inc. He is a previous Chair of the FP Canada Board of Directors and a founding member of the Projection Assumption Guidelines, which are developed by FP Canada and the Institute of Financial Planning. David Wild, based in Regina, Saskatchewan, was Associate Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Finance for the Government of Saskatchewan. He also served as a Public Director for the FP Canada Board of Directors for six years.
The Emerging Leader Award recognizes CFP professionals and QAFP® professionals under 40 who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and innovation within the profession, as well as a passion for giving back through volunteerism. The inaugural recipients are Aravind Sithamparapillai and Desmond Nwaerondu.
Aravind Sithamparapillai, based in Fonthill, Ontario, is a financial planner at Ironwood Wealth Management Group. He's volunteered for several organizations, including for the Financial Planning Association of Canada. Desmond Nwaerondu, based in Calgary, Alberta, is a financial planner at Sun Life Financial and has served as an FP Canada exam writer and scorer.
FP Canada is very pleased to recognize this highly accomplished group of professionals who have contributed so much to the financial planning profession. All award and distinction recipients were honoured at an award ceremony, which also served as a celebration of FP Canada's 30th anniversary.
