"From Nile to Han": An artistic dialogue bridging Egypt and Korea

As Egypt and Korea mark the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, a moment of cultural and artistic significance is unfolding in Seoul. The solo exhibition "From Nile to Han," by renowned Egyptian conceptual artist Dina Fahmy El Rouby, currently on view at the Egyptian Embassy, serves as a powerful tribute to the enduring friendship and shared human values between these two ancient civilizations. Over nearly five millennia, Egypt developed a distinctive civilization shaped by its geography, natural resources and enduring relationship with the Nile River. Similarly, the Han River played a vital role in Korea’s early development, serving as a key trade route and supporting the growth of early settlements. Control of these rivers was crucial to the rise and fall of kingdoms — particularly during Korea’s Three Kingdoms period.
