OMAHA, Neb., Sept. 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- WoodmenLife – a leading provider of life insurance and retirement-planning solutions with a strong commitment to local communities – today announced that it is commemorating a decade of dedication to fighting hunger across the nation in recognition of National Hunger Action Month. Since naming hunger relief as its official National Community Focus in 2015, WoodmenLife has raised more than $3.8 million and donated over 2.2 million pounds of food, providing countless meals for families in need.

According to a USDA Economic Research study, in 2023, 47.4 million people lived in food-insecure households, and 841,000 children (1.2 percent of the Nation's children) lived in households in which one or more children experienced food shortages.

"Too many hardworking Americans — especially those in small towns — are struggling with food insecurity as everyday essentials become more expensive," said Denise M. McCauley, President & CEO of WoodmenLife. "No one should have to wonder where their next meal will come from. At WoodmenLife, our commitment runs deep in communities across the country, where we remain dedicated to fighting hunger and supporting those who work tirelessly to provide for their families."

Through thousands of community service events each year, WoodmenLife members and associates organize food drives, pack backpacks for school children, and donate to and volunteer at Feeding America food banks and small community pantries nationwide. This year alone, WoodmenLife's long-time participation in Food Bank for the Heartland's Strike Out Hunger competition provided 123,365 meals, a contribution that has kept WoodmenLife ranked first in its division every year since 2017 for both total meals and meals per employee.

Rooted in a tradition of giving back, WoodmenLife associates also dedicate countless hours to hands-on service. From helping families stock their pantries to supporting food banks on the front lines, the organization's members demonstrate their commitment to building stronger communities and addressing one of the nation's most pressing challenges.

"Hunger relief is not just a cause for us — it's part of who we are," added McCauley. "For the past 10 years, we've seen the power of collective action, and together, we've turned one meal into millions."
