"At Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, we are continuously exploring opportunities to meet the changing needs of our members, including those related to their mental health," said Jake Biscoglio, president, commercial business at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. "We are proud to collaborate with Meru Health to provide greater access to effective, convenient mental health care for our members. This offering is another way to help us meet the unprecedented demand for behavioral health needs throughout the region and to help improve health outcomes."

Meru Health will provide eligible Harvard Pilgrim Health Care members 13 years and older with access to its 12-week provider-led, digital mental health program. The program, which offers quick and convenient access through video calls and an online chat, is designed to help support teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, and related mental and behavioral conditions. The Meru Health program combines evidence-based therapy with mindfulness, lifestyle interventions, and digital tools to deliver comprehensive care in a way that fits people's lives.

"We're truly excited to begin our collaboration with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care," said Kristian Ranta, CEO & Founder of Meru Health. "From the outset, it's been clear that the Harvard Pilgrim team is deeply committed to innovation and forward-thinking approaches to improving the quality of care and outcomes for their members with mental health needs."

Highlights of the program include:

  • A digital program, which includes scheduled video call and unlimited chatting with a therapist, plus on-demand guided mindfulness practices, heart rate variability (HRV), biofeedback therapy and anonymous community support – all from an easy-to-use app.
  • Integrated mental health support to help address factors such as sleep, nutrition, exercise and stress management with a goal of improving a member's overall well-being.
  • More convenience and privacy through an application-based platform, engaging members in therapy from the comfort of their homes, making mental health care more accessible, particularly for those in rural areas or with limited access to in-person services.
