Supporting Early-Career High School Math and Science Teachers Across the United States

MOORESTOWN, N.J., June 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Knowles Teacher Initiative today announced the opening of the application for the 2026 Knowles Teaching Fellowship—a four-year program that supports early-career high school math and science teachers as they build teaching expertise and grow as leaders from the classroom.

Teaching, learning, and leadership thrive in community, but too often, teaching can feel isolating. The Knowles Fellowship connects teachers through three interconnected communities: their cohort, their regional network, and the national community of over 600 teachers. Each offers unique support and perspective, helping Fellows grow as educators and leaders with the capacity to improve education alongside others.

Knowles Teaching Fellows receive comprehensive support, including:

  • Annual stipends;
  • grants for classroom materials, professional learning, National Board Certification, and teacher-led initiatives;
  • mentoring and coaching from experienced educators, and
  • lifelong membership in the Knowles Community.

"Math and science education is changing rapidly, and we saw an opportunity to serve teachers over the next 25 years as well as we have for the last 25," said Jeff Rozelle, CEO of the Knowles Teacher Initiative. "We took a year to reflect deeply, listen to Fellows and colleagues in the field, and examine the shifting landscape of education. The result is a refined Fellowship that remains rooted in what we know works—community, mentorship, and leadership from the classroom—while responding to the realities today's teachers face. We're proud to relaunch this opportunity with the next generation of educators in mind."

The application is now available and there are four opportunities to apply before the final deadline on January 16, 2026. Knowles will select up to 40 new Fellows from across the country who demonstrate strong content knowledge in physics, chemistry, biology, or mathematics and a deep commitment to teaching high school, growing their teaching practice, and building leadership capacity.

"Knowles has been an invaluable support system for me this year—from the staff being able to Zoom with me after a really hard situation at school, to providing the financial support that made it possible for me to get the materials I want for my students," stated Tracy King, Knowles Teaching Fellow, 2022 Cohort. "Engaging in the Fellowship has provided me with the tools to assess my teaching and encouraged me to be curious about how I teach and how my students learn."
