According to these new findings, pet owners in Tennessee ranked the No. 1 most likely to have more apps on their phone for their pet's wellness than their own (13%). Additionally:
- 26% say their pet is at a vet recommended weight.
- 26% prioritize their pet's physical wellness.
- 18% use calendar apps to ensure they never miss a vaccine due date or wellness visit.
- 13% regularly use telehealth services for their pet.
- 10% use an activity tracker to track their pet's activity level.
While clearly tech proficient, Tennessee pet owners may need to go back to basics—as 89% say they don't brush their pet's teeth at home. This is particularly concerning because:
- Bad breath is more than unpleasant—it can also be a sign of dental disease in pets, which can be associated with oral pain, excessive drooling, bleeding, and reluctance to eat or drink.
- Periodontal disease, a more serious form of dental disease, may also be linked to other health issues, including heart and kidney disease.
- Routine at-home dental care has been shown to be a very important aspect of good oral health, along with annual professional dental cleanings.
