Peru's Culinary Festival 'Perú Mucho Gusto' Attracts 5,000 Visitors in New York Debut
The three-day event showcased Perú's award-winning cuisine, pisco, and culture
NEW YORK, Sept. 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- From September 19 to 21, the heart of Brooklyn pulsed with the flavors, rhythms, and colors of Perú as the first-ever North American edition of the Perú Mucho Gusto Culinary Festival welcomed more than 5,000 visitors to the Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse.
Organized by PROMPERÚ (the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism), the three-day cultural and gastronomic celebration brought together leading Peruvian chefs, restaurants, producers, and artists in a dynamic program that showcased the country's cuisine, music, and creativity.
Visitors enjoyed authentic dishes from 14 Peruvian restaurants across New York, New Jersey, and beyond, from ceviche and pollo a la brasa to Nikkei sushi and Andean-inspired stews, alongside desserts, artisanal gelato, and superfoods like quinoa and cacao. Exhibitors also featured jewelry, tableware, and sustainable lifestyle products inspired by Peru's artisanal traditions.
The 360° Pisco Bar proved to be a highlight, offering a wide range of pisco-based creations. Interactive tastings, cocktail workshops, and masterclasses were led by Johnny Schuler, Pisco Ambassador, who has been a key figure in elevating pisco worldwide for over 30 years.
On stage, acclaimed chef, author, and native ingredient advocate Flavio Solórzano Álvarez highlighted Perú's biodiversity and regional cuisines through live demonstrations, reinforcing the country's role as a cradle of superfoods and ancestral culinary knowledge.
The festival also featured the presence of Úrsula Desilú León Chempén, Peru's Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, who inaugurated the event and shared Peru's vision for positioning gastronomy as a key driver of cultural exchange and international tourism.
"Perú Mucho Gusto has always been more than a food festival—it is a celebration of culture, identity, and the extraordinary creativity of our people," said Diana Pita, PROMPERÚ's Economic and Commercial Counselor in New York. "Bringing this festival to the U.S. for the first time not only reinforces Perú's place as a world-class gastronomic destination but also invites new audiences to discover the richness of our culture and the beauty of traveling to Perú."
With Perú named the World's Best Culinary Destination 12 times by the World Travel Awards, the festival strengthened the country's position as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking authentic gastronomic and cultural experiences. Visitors were invited to explore beyond the plate and consider Perú's diverse tourism offerings—from the Andes to the Amazon to the Pacific coast.
The success of Perú Mucho Gusto NYC, following its Madrid debut earlier this year, marks an important milestone in the festival's international journey and paves the way for continued global expansion.
