Rustic Bakery Celebrates 20 Years of Simple Ingredients and Extraordinary Moments
Beloved Bay Area Brand Brings Together Culinary Leaders and Partners to Share 'Perfect Bites'
PETALUMA, Calif., Sept. 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Rustic Bakery, best known for its artisanal flatbreads, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in October, commemorating the day it shipped its first cases of sourdough Flatbread to Cowgirl Creamery in the San Francisco Ferry Building. The brand, which now produces a full line of crackers, cookies and biscuits available nationwide and operates five cafes in Marin County, California, is celebrating with a range of activities that honor a simple truth: 'extraordinary things happen when we come together; in food, in craft, and in community.'
From the start, Rustic Bakery flatbreads were crafted to create perfect pairings, and in that spirit, the 20th anniversary celebration brings together the partners and community who've shared in its journey.
In honor of the milestone, Cowgirl Creamery has created a new cheese called "Howdy, Partner™" -- a triple cream, bloomy rind cheese topped with Chipotle & Cayenne -- inspired by Rustic Bakery's Chipotle & Cayenne Biscuit. The cheese is now available for purchase at all Rustic Bakery café locations and featured in limited-time anniversary menu items.
The brand has also enlisted a thoughtfully curated group of ten prestigious culinary leaders to create a showcase of pairings that represent their unique takes on "A Perfect Bite" -- bringing together Rustic Bakery products and Cowgirl Creamery cheeses in new and inventive ways. These creations, along with additional pairings created by its café chefs, will be shared online via social media and the brand's website, and sampled at the Rustic Bakery cafes on Fridays in September and October leading up to a festive celebratory 'tasting event' open to the public on October 15, from 11 am to 2 pm, at Marin Country Mart in Larkspur, CA.
"From the beginning, the Rustic Bakery brand has been about partnership and shared moments," said Shaila Garde-Lester, Vice President of Marketing for Rustic Bakery. "It's fitting that we are sharing this exciting milestone with our community of partners and fans – and what better way to celebrate than through a delicious showcase of culinary craftsmanship that everyone can enjoy whether they're with us in person or in spirit."
The culinary tastemakers developing "A Perfect Bite" creations range from top Bay Area chefs to national cookbook authors and celebrity TV chefs, including:
- Lynda Balslev – Culinary consultant and Author, "The Little Book of Charcuterie & Cheese"
- Bebe Carminito – Author, "The Curated Board"

About Rustic Bakery
In 2025, Rustic Bakery celebrates 20 years of 'simple ingredients and extraordinary moments.' The company was founded in 2005 by a husband-and-wife team who discovered their passion for baking in a flatbread cracker they would whip up for friends. The flatbread was designed to pair with artisan cheeses and had its industry debut at the 2006 San Francisco Fancy Food Show where it was discovered by buyers nationwide and suddenly every cheese plate in America had to have them. Today, Rustic Bakery produces a full line of Flatbread Crackers, Flatbread Bites, Artisan Crisps, Shortbread, Biscuits and Seasonal Cookies from their production facility in Sonoma County. The product line is sold in select grocery stores, through specialty shops, gifting companies, airlines' in-flight service and on-line at rusticbakery.com and Amazon. Rustic Bakery also operates five cafés in Marin County that serve baked goods, soups, sandwiches and salads.
