South Korea defeated Bolivia 2-0 in their men's football friendly match at home Friday, behind second-half goals by forwards Son Heung-min and Cho Gue-sung. Son netted a free kick goal in the 57th minute at Daejeon World Cup Stadium in the central city of Daejeon, before Cho, who subbed in for Son, added the insurance marker in the 88th minute in his first international match since March 2024. South Korea will next play Ghana at Seoul World Cup Stadium in the capital city at 8 p.m. Tuesday. It will be their final match of 2025, and also the last one before the Dec. 5 draw for next year's FIFA World Cup. The 48 participating countries will be divided into four pots of 12, and each group will have one team drawn from each pot. Pot 1 will include the three host countries, the United States, Canada and Mexico, and the top nine nations in the next FIFA rankings set to be updated next Wednesday. Currently at No. 22, South Korea would be in Pot 2. Any drop in the rankings would put the team at the risk of falling to Pot 3 and getting drawn with a pair of top-20 opponents in the group stage.Weiter zum vollständigen Artikel bei Korea Times
