Regulatory News:
Eurotunnel (Paris:GET) and ISS, a leader in the facility-management
industry and a long-standing partner of the Group in charge of various
duties in all Eurotunnel’s departments (rolling stock, infrastructure),
have mutually agreed to increase their fleet of cars to be used at the
Coquelles site by buying electric vehicles.
There are now 31 "green” vehicles which will be used by employees of
both companies. For Eurotunnel, 7 new vehicles will be added to the
13 cars already available to the operations and rolling-stock staff,
while ISS, with 160 employees at the Coquelles site, will replace 11 of
its 25 vehicles with Renault Zoé.
Additional charging stations have
been installed to make a supply of electricity available to different
areas at the particularly-extensive Eurotunnel site (7 stations are
available over 650 hectares).
Both partners are thus continuing to reduce the impact of their
activities on the environment and improve their carbon footprint. In
March, British independent, prestigious agency, The Carbon Trust
Standard, renewed Eurotunnel’s certification for its policies and
outcomes in terms of reducing its carbon footprint (reduced energy
consumption dedicated to air conditioning, reducing night-train speeds,
etc.). Don’t forget that Eurotunnel is the only cross-Channel operator
to achieve the Carbon Footprint Label. Once again, Eurotunnel is showing
its commitment to the environment with a fleet of "greener” vehicles.
Managing a fleet of over 3,000 vehicles, ISS is constantly working to
reduce its environmental impact in two main ways: choosing more
environmentally-responsible vehicles and continuing with our eco-driving
training programme. At the start of June, ISS was recognised for a
second year running as the world’s best outsourcing company by IAOP
(International Association for Outsourcing Professionals).
Michel Boudoussier, Eurotunnel Chief Operating Officer stated:
"Eurotunnel
is the green route across the Channel. I am proud that the whole Group
is committed, right across our operating site, to reducing our carbon
footprint as respect for the environment is one of Eurotunnel’s founding
principal.”
Antoine Namand, ISS Country Manager, states:
"We’re
extremely happy with this new project developed between Eurotunnel and
ISS. We are pursuing the same goals in terms of continued improvement,
ongoing quest for innovation and improving the environment as well as
working conditions. For this operation, we will work together to reduce
our emissions by around 90 tonnes of Co2 per year and increase drivers’
comfort onsite. This approach fits perfectly within the type of
Partnership that we are hoping to develop between the two companies”.
