ASTTU and Georgia Construction Careers Launch Partnership to Support Union Workers
ST. LOUIS, May 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association of Skilled Trade and Transportation Unions (ASTTU) and Georgia Construction Careers, a subsidiary of the Atlanta and North Georgia Building Trades Council (ANGBTC), have launched a new partnership that expands meaningful support for union Members across Georgia. This collaboration reflects both organizations' shared commitment to strengthening the labor movement through practical benefits and unified advocacy.
"This collaboration is about unity, supporting working families, and standing together to secure the future of labor."As part of the partnership, Members of unions affiliated with Georgia Construction Careers will have the opportunity to enroll in voluntary income protection benefits, including Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Life and AD&D Insurance, Critical Illness, and Accident Insurance, that complement existing union benefits, resources, and enhance Member support.
"This partnership reflects our commitment to solidarity and practical support," said Carl Galdine, Director of Membership and Benefits at ASTTU. "Together with Georgia Construction Careers, we are making it easier for union Members to protect themselves and their families, while also working to strengthen the labor movement as a whole."
In addition to expanding benefit access, ASTTU and Georgia Construction Careers will collaborate on a wide range of strategic initiatives that support not only their own Members and affiliates, but also the broader community of union partners. These initiatives will focus on areas such as workplace safety, worker education, pro-labor advocacy, and tools to enhance Member engagement and organizing efforts.
"We're proud to partner with ASTTU. Their passion for unions and political action within organized labor aligns perfectly with our mission—to empower affiliates, improve wages and benefits for our Members, and ensure safety on every jobsite. Protecting our Members and their families is a top priority. No one should face the added burden of financial stress when they're recovering from a disabling condition and unable to work. This partnership will be a valuable resource for the Membership of Georgia Construction Careers," said Kenny Mullins, Business Manager and Financial Secretary-Treasurer of Georgia Construction Careers.
He added, "This collaboration is about unity, supporting working families, and standing together to secure the future of labor."
This alliance underscores a growing momentum in the labor movement to provide more effective, flexible, and Member-focused support systems, especially for small and mid-sized unions looking for powerful ways to serve their Members while advancing shared values.
