Biz lobby to support employment of former USFK service members

A major business lobby said Wednesday it plans to launch a platform for former U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) members where they can apply for jobs at Korean companies operating in the United States. The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation (KUSAF) to help companies recruit candidates with a strong understanding of the Korean culture. Through the collaboration, the KCCI will promote the platform to Korean businesses, while KUSAF will encourage retired military personnel to seek job opportunities at Korean firms in the U.S. "Through the platform, retired U.S. service members will be offered quality job opportunities in the private sector, and Korean companies can hire quality workforces with responsibility and adaptability," KCCI said. The collaboration will also make Korean companies in the United States eligible to receive tax incentives by hiring veterans, it added.
