Werbung Werbung CORPORATE NEWS Daldrup & Söhne AG receives drilling contract for geothermal doublet in Prenzlau, Germany
Oberhaching / Ascheberg, 13 May 2025 – Daldrup & Söhne AG (ISIN DE0007830572), a drilling technology and geothermal energy specialist, has received an order from Stadtwerke Prenzlau GmbH to upgrade and recommission an existing borehole (as an injection well) and to drill a new vertical well (as a production well) to a depth of approximately 1,000 metres. The project volume for Daldrup & Söhne AG amounts to around 5.2 million euros. The project is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2025. The geothermal doublet in Prenzlau will provide district heating for up to 5,500 households. The project is being subsidised for the client by funds from the Federal Government's programme for efficient heating networks (BEW). Werbung Werbung
Bernd Daldrup, CEO of Daldrup & Söhne AG, on the prospects for geothermal heat for municipalities: ‘Prenzlau is a good example of how even relatively low temperatures of an expected 44 degrees Celsius can be used to provide affordable and sustainable heat for citizens. In the new federal states, district heating networks account for 30 per cent of the heat supply, compared with around 10 per cent in the old federal states. There is room for expansion here, and this is being substantially supported by federal funding for efficient heating networks, among other things. As part of municipal heat planning, Daldrup & Söhne AG expects strong growth in demand for the development of domestic geothermal energy for local and district heating in the coming years.
Steffen Kanitz appointed as new member of the Supervisory Board Daldrup & Söhne AG is continuing the generational change in the company's governing bodies. Long-standing member of the Supervisory Board Heinrich Goßheger has resigned from his position with effect from 31 March 2025. From 2013 to 2017, he was a member of the German Bundestag for the CDU/CSU and subsequently held a management position at BGZ Gesellschaft für Zwischenlagerung mbH and was managing director of Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung mbH (BGE).
Dr. Michaela Daldrup-Arnold, member of the Supervisory Board of Daldrup & Söhne AG, said of the appointment: ‘We are convinced that in Steffen Kanitz we have found a person who can support Daldrup & Söhne AG in an appropriate manner with his economic and energy policy expertise and his networks.
