HD Hyundai Electric signs MOU to supply data center power equipment to Norwegian firm

HD Hyundai Electric, a Korean electric equipment manufacturer, said Sunday it has signed an initial agreement with a Norwegian company to supply power equipment for data centers. The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bulk Infrastructure, a Norwegian data and telecommunications infrastructure firm, to provide electric power transformers and high-voltage circuit breakers for the company's data centers, it said in a press release. Under the agreement, the two companies will also cooperate in seeking orders for high-voltage circuit breakers in the European electric machinery market, the company said. Founded in 2006, Bulk Infrastructure currently operates five data centers in Norway and Denmark. Last year, HD Hyundai Electric signed a separate deal to supply ultra-high-voltage transformers to Bulk Infrastructure's data center in Vennesla, Norway. Europe ranked as one of the world's top three regions for data center electricity consumption in 2024, alongside the United States and China, according to a report released by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
