JAMBOREE HOUSING CORPORATION LAUNCHES INAUGURAL LEGACY AWARD HONORING MAYOR LARRY AGRAN'S DECADES OF LEADERSHIP IN HOUSING ACCESS
Mayor Agran will receive the first-ever Legacy Award during Jamboree's 35th Anniversary Gala, recognizing his lasting impact on affordable housing and celebrating 35 years of creating homes and thriving communities.
IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of its 35th year of transforming lives and strengthening communities, Jamboree Housing Corporation (Jamboree) will debut its Jamboree Legacy Award — an honor intended to recognize visionary leaders whose work has significantly advanced housing affordability and community well-being. The inaugural award will be presented to Irvine Mayor Larry Agran, a trailblazing public servant whose decades of leadership have shaped one of the most inclusive and forward-thinking housing landscapes in the nation.
Mayor Agran will receive the Legacy Award during Jamboree's 35th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at AV Irvine. This black-tie evening will unite community leaders, changemakers, and philanthropists for an inspiring celebration of Jamboree's mission — transforming lives through high-quality affordable housing and life-changing resident services. Together, Jamboree has built homes and hope for thousands across California, and this gala marks a milestone in continuing that legacy. The evening will feature gourmet dining, live entertainment, and a celebration of the leaders and partners who make this work possible.
With more than 30 years on the Irvine City Council — including 10 years as mayor — Agran has been at the forefront of policies that have made Irvine a model for diversity, inclusion, and housing access. Under his leadership, the city now has more than 5,000 affordable housing units, with an ambitious instant affordability initiative underway to double that number in the next five years. His vision has provided thousands of residents with safe, high-quality homes and access to supportive services that foster stability and opportunity.
Agran's collaboration with Jamboree stretches back decades, including the preservation of the Meadows in Irvine, a mobile home park for seniors age 55+, as affordable housing — a development that remains a cornerstone of Irvine's inclusive community. "Working together in Irvine — and with partners like Jamboree — let's set an example of outstanding local governance," said Mayor Agran. "We will leverage our advantages, build on our successes, and continue to be among America's safest, smartest, greenest, healthiest, and kindest cities. That's why we're moving now with 'instant affordability' — so families and children facing housing instability or homelessness receive immediate, priority access to safe, high-quality housing."
Laura Archuleta, President and CEO of Jamboree, said honoring Agran at this milestone event is both well-deserved and deeply meaningful to the organization. "Larry's vision and determination have not only shaped Irvine into one of the most inclusive cities in the country, but have also set a powerful example of what's possible when we prioritize housing for all," said Archuleta. "At a time when flawed housing policies are fueling a homelessness crisis across California, his leadership demonstrates how bold, thoughtful policy can create long-term solutions. His work has been a cornerstone in our shared mission to create vibrant communities where every resident has the opportunity to thrive. We are proud to celebrate his legacy at this milestone event for Jamboree."
Jamboree gratefully acknowledges the leadership and generosity of the gala's top sponsors, including Changemaker Sponsor U.S. Bank, Visionary Sponsors RESI Architecture, David A. Pyle family and OneRoot Foundation, and Legacy Sponsors Mary Lynn & Bill Coffee, Nossaman LLP, Rutan & Tucker LLP, ORIX Corporation USA, Bank of America, and Quality Management Group.
