FOLLOWING THE RELEASE OF SPINAL TAP 2 – THE END CONTINUES SPINAL TAP BASSIST, LAUNCHES STINGING ATTACK ON FORMER BANDMATES AS HE ANNOUNCES SOLO PROJECT

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Derek Smalls, the bass force formerly of the fabled heavy metal band formerly known as Spinal Tap, has had enough. The lukewarm water one, who in the past has positioned himself comfortably between the fire of David St Hubbins and the ice of Nigel Tufnell, has finally hit boiling point.  Hot on the heels of the release of Marty DiBergi's latest 'hatchet job', Spinal Tap 2 – The End Continues, Smalls has announced that he's going it alone.

LUKEWARM WATER HITS BOILING POINT: SPINAL TAP'S DEREK SMALLS TAKES DOWN BANDMATES AND BLASTS

"BUNCH OF F*CKWITS!"

"I'm not going to talk about the movie', says Smalls, "except to say, it's another hatchet job that makes us look like a bunch of f*ckwits.  Whilst that may be two-thirds true, this one-third has had enough".

Expressing his increasing frustration with former bandmates, Nigel Tufnell and David St Hubbins, and announcing a new solo project that will kick off on October 22, the bass player is putting it all behind him.

"A few years ago I went solo because we weren't playing together.  Now I'm going solo because we were.  Nigel and David started as fire and ice. They ended up as match and a cube. It seems like their gonads have turned into gone-nads."

"Our landmark songs were Sex Farm, Big Bottom and Bitch School.  My ex-mates lost interest in doing saucy songs like that.   If rock music doesn't spend half its time below the belt, it's spending all its time in the pantry."

This autumn will see the launch of a new creative period for Smalls, as he heads to the studio to record a series of tracks that reflect the true carnal heart of rock

Smalls concludes - "David and Nigel have treated me as the third wheel on the unicycle for the last time!"
