Oceans minister to visit Denmark, Britain for int'l shipping cooperation, IMO assembly

Oceans Minister Chun Jae-soo plans to visit Denmark and Britain this week to strengthen cooperative ties with Copenhagen in the shipping sector and attend the general assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), his office said Tuesday. Chun plans to visit Denmark on Wednesday and sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Danish Industry Minister Morten Bodskov for Seoul and Copenhagen to cooperate in the green and digital transformations of the shipping industry. He is also scheduled to meet with top executives of global shipping giant Maersk and officials from Denmark's maritime administration to discuss the development of the envisioned Arctic shipping routes. Chun will later travel to London to attend the IMO general assembly, where he will meet with IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez and Singaporean Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow to seek support for Korea's bid to host the United Nations Ocean Conference in 2028.
