TenderHeart Member Engagement Programs Improve Key Measures of Health Plan Success
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- TenderHeart Health Outcomes' member engagement programs improved HEDIS scores by an average of 10.7% for partner Medicaid health plans, according to data released this week by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). These TenderHeart Health Rewards programs incentivize members to seek preventive or follow-up care to improve their health.
All Health Rewards programs measured by the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) showed improvements for members. Notably, well-child visits in the first 30 months of life improved by 17.9% from the start of the program. To encourage well-child visits during the first 30 months after birth, members receive baby essentials for each appointment attended.
"At a time when Medicaid plans are under intense pressure to demonstrate value, TenderHeart's programs are showing measurable impact for our partners," said TenderHeart CEO Tommy Lewis. "Most importantly, these HEDIS results reflect a better quality of life for children and new moms. That's what drives TenderHeart's work with our partners, and it's also why incentive payments to health plans are tied to HEDIS scores."
The average improvements of TenderHeart's Medicaid managed care health plan partners by HEDIS measure are listed below:
- Timeliness of Prenatal Care (PPC): 7.2%
- Postpartum Care (PPC): 13.2%
- Well-child Visits in First 30 Months of Life (W-30): 17.9%
- Follow-up Care for Children Prescribed ADHD Medication - Initiation Phase (ADD): 2.5%*
- Follow-up Care for Children Prescribed ADHD Medication - Continuation and Maintenance Phase (ADD): 12.5%*
- Average partner improvement across HEDIS measures: 10.7%
*Note: A new ADD HEDIS measure was created in the NCQA 2024 data, making comparisons to previous years not possible. Therefore, NCQA data from 2021-2023 was used to measure change.
