UMOCA Launches the Assemblage Art Fund Supported by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Regional Regranting Program
SALT LAKE CITY, July 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA) is thrilled to announce the launch of the Assemblage Art Fund, a new grant initiative designed to support artists and collectives working in Salt Lake County. Developed in partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts' Regional Regranting Program, Assemblage Art Fund aims to fuel experimentation, expand access, and strengthen the region's independent visual arts ecosystem.
In its first year, the Assemblage Art Fund will award 6–12 grants of $5,000 or $10,000 to support projects that are collaborative in spirit, alternative in form, and publicly accessible. Grants will empower artists to take creative risks, develop new partnerships, and bring ambitious ideas to life across Salt Lake County.
"Assemblage is about investing directly in the artists who are shaping our cultural landscape," said Laura Allred Hurtado, Executive Director of UMOCA. "This fund provides the resources and encouragement artists need to experiment, build community, and present work in ways that might otherwise be overlooked. We're excited to see how Assemblage helps deepen and diversify artistic expression in Salt Lake County."
Assemblage prioritizes projects that push beyond traditional formats and engage new or underrepresented audiences. From pop-up exhibitions and artist-led publications to experimental performances and site-responsive installations, the fund supports visual art in its most expansive sense. Projects must be new, rooted in visual arts practice, and take place within the county over a 12-month grant cycle.
"We are excited to welcome the Assemblage Art Fund to the network of partners for the Warhol Foundation's Regional Regranting Program," says Khadija Nia Adell, Regional Regranting Program Officer at the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, "The fund will bolster artists across Salt Lake County by supporting innovative and experimental visual arts projects and encouraging the development of new ideas that engage with the community and foster collaboration."
