Last year, Croatian Post reduced its total greenhouse gas emissions by 11,600 tonnes or 18% compared to 2023, and continued a positive trend in most emission categories thanks to the electrification of its vehicle fleet, energy-efficient facilities and optimisation of logistics processes. At the same time, the business activities of the Croatian Post have increased, meaning that the company is polluting the environment less, despite the growing volume of work. Thanks to electric vehicles, bicycles and deliveries in pedestrian areas, postal workers covered 14.5 million green kilometres last year, which is almost 30% of the total 53.1 million kilometres travelled. This represents an increase of 9.3 million kilometres compared to 2023. A key factor in the continuous reduction of CO2 emissions is the fleet of around 400 electric delivery vehicles, which represents the largest green vehicle fleet in Croatia.Croatian Post also plans to acquire additional electric vehicles this year and has been implementing an eco-driving project for several months now. As part of the project, around sixty trainers will educate a total of 2,200 drivers on eco-friendly and energy-efficient driving of company vehicles. So far, 30% of drivers have completed the training and the first results are already visible – fuel consumption has been reduced by an average of 11%, directly contributing to lower CO2 emissions and increased efficiency.Croatian Post has committed to achieving zero carbon emissions by 2040 by joining The Climate Pledge, an international and cross-sector community of companies and organisations. The Post is also participating in the SMMS program of the International Post Corporation (IPC), which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50% compared to 2019 levels and to have a fleet consisting of at least 50% alternative fuel vehicles by 2030, of which 25% should be electric. Ambitious goals are crucial for contributing to the fight for safeguarding our planet for future generations.Weiter zum vollständigen Artikel bei Post&Parcel
