Arizona Lithium gets green light for Saskatchewan’s first lithium brine project

Arizona Lithium (ASX: AZL) has received approval to commence Phase 1 production at its Prairie Lithium Project in Saskatchewan.Prairie is the first lithium brine project in Saskatchewan to receive production approval.The green light, granted by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources, paves the way for commercial-scale production.Phase 1 will utilize a direct lithium extraction (DLE) unit capable of producing 150 tonnes per annum (TPA) of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE).According to an updated resource model—based on data gathered during the company’s 2024 drilling and completion program—the Prairie Project’s total Indicated Resource has increased from 4.5 million tonnes to 4.6 million tonnes of LCE. The Indicated Resource producible per year has surged 120%, from 7,700 TPA to 17,000 TPA LCE.Located in the Williston Basin of southeast Saskatchewan, the Prairie Lithium Project benefits from proximity to essential infrastructure, including electricity, natural gas, fresh water, paved highways, and railways.Southeast Saskatchewan is home to the highest-grade lithium brines in Canada.Arizona Lithium is also advancing its Big Sandy Lithium Project in Arizona.
