BIOPETROL increases production - loss for the first half 2011

Baar, 26 August 2011: BIOPETROL Industries AG, the Switzerland-based producer of biodiesel and high quality pharmaceutical-grade glycerine, today reported a net loss of KEUR 15,823 for the first half 2011 (first half of 2010: KEUR 10,334) including one-off restructuring costs of approximately EUR 1.6 million. Earnings per share were EUR -0.20 (first half of 2010: EUR -0.20).

Sales excluding energy tax increased by 230.6 % to KEUR 315,464 (first half of 2010: KEUR 95,422). EBITDA was KEUR -6,029 (first half of 2010: KEUR -1,907) and EBIT was KEUR -10,482 (first half of 2010: KEUR -4,810). Cash flow before changes in working capital were at KEUR -7,504 (first half of 2010: KEUR -2,222). Production increased by 80.9 % to 191,329 mt (first half of 2010: 105,744 mt).

'The BIOPETROL team has continued its focus on reducing the cost structure and improving operational efficiencies of the business. One of the consequences was incurrence of one-off restructuring costs.', said Maarten Roelfs, Chief Executive Officer of BIOPETROL. 'Our twin priorities of driving new cost-efficiencies through our business and refinancing our working capital on more attractive terms are our primary focus, which we believe will enable us to deliver value for our shareholders.'
