DinDin reveals celebrity wedding gift norms: ‘If we’re close, 500,000 won’

Singer and entertainer DinDin shared candid stories about celebrity gift culture and his own experiences with wedding congratulatory money in a recent YouTube video. In a video uploaded Oct. 8 to his channel, “DinDin is DinDin,” titled “How much do celebrities give at weddings?,” he talked about Chuseok gifts and wedding customs. “I’m one of the people who gets holiday gifts from (Yoo) Jae-suk. He sent one again this Chuseok,” DinDin said with a laugh. “I told him, ‘I finally feel like I’m really one of your people now.’” When asked by a subscriber how much celebrities typically give at weddings, DinDin dismissed exaggerated rumors. “People say celebrities give in the millions, but who does that? I usually give 300,000 won ($210). If we’re close, I give 500,000 won ($360),” he said, earning praise for his honesty. He recalled attending rapper Sleepy’s wedding, saying he regretted being overly generous. “I gave him a fridge and a clothes steamer — almost 700,000 to 800,000 won in total.
