HD Hyundai Heavy wins $240 mil. ammonia ship order from Africa

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea's leading shipbuilder, said Thursday it has received a 354.2 billion-won ($240 million) order to build two very large ammonia carriers (VLACs) for a shipper in Africa. The two VLACs will be delivered to the undisclosed African customer by July 2028, the company said in a regulatory filing. HD Hyundai Heavy is one of two shipbuilding units — along with HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries — under HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), a subholding company under HD Hyundai. HD KSOE has clinched $16.76 billion worth of ship orders so far this year, achieving 92.9 percent of its annual target of $18.05 billion.
