More than 1.25 million Mercy patients per year provide feedback

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- For the fourth consecutive year, Mercy has earned the Excellence in Patient Experience Award as the top large health system in the country for patient experience. The distinction was awarded by NRC Health, a leader in building personalized health care solutions and data-driven insights.

"There's nothing more important than how we care for our patients," said Dr. John Mohart.

NRC Health's Excellence in Patient Experience Award recognizes health systems and hospitals that have demonstrated their commitment to improving patient care. Mercy was one of only three health systems throughout the country to have earned this designation in 2025.

"There's nothing more important than how we care for our patients," said Dr. John Mohart, Mercy's executive vice president and chief operating officer. "Of course, our clinical care teams are an enormous part of that care, but so are many others. From food service, pharmacy, environmental services and even volunteers who greet patients and their families, providing an excellent patient experience is in the hands of our entire team, and this honor highlights the work that goes into making it happen."

Award winners are selected based on real-time ratings from patients indicating whether or not they would recommend Mercy. One winner is honored in each of the following categories of facilities: small, medium and large health systems; small, medium and large hospitals; pediatric facilities; and clinics. Mercy was selected as one of the top large health systems based on patient feedback collected from April 1, 2024, through March 31, 2025. A complete list of winners is available at nrchealth.com.

"This year's Excellence in Patient Experience Award winners have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to listening to patients and their families, and improving care in ways that reflect NRC Health's mission of Human Understanding," said Helen Hrdy, chief operating officer at NRC Health. "This achievement highlights the dedication of their entire teams, and we're proud to celebrate their successes."

Mercy collaborates with NRC Health to capture and respond to feedback from patients about their care, whether they are in the hospital or seen on an outpatient basis. Mercy also participates in NRC's Transparency program, which shares information from patient surveys of Mercy physicians on Mercy.net. Through this collaboration, Mercy receives feedback about their encounters with Mercy services, caregivers and providers from more than 1.25 million patients annually.
