ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Colombo & Hurd, a leading U.S. immigration law firm serving high-skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and investors, announced the formation of its Federal Immigration Litigation Practice, headed by Sarah Wilson, who previously served as Assistant Director in the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Immigration Litigation and Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General.

"We're building a practice for the cases that decide outcomes, set standards and keep top global talent contributing to the United States," said Carlos Colombo, Founding Partner of Colombo & Hurd. "Sarah supervised the Office of Immigration Litigation's largest team with a portfolio of over 3,000 federal cases, created the DOJ's Employment Litigation Team, and launched the Mandamus Task Force to address nationwide immigration-delay actions. She has argued in federal courts across the country, contributed to successful briefing before the U.S. Supreme Court, and advised senior DOJ leadership. Having her lead this practice is a major win for our clients and our firm."

During her tenure at the DOJ, Wilson oversaw complex litigation involving executive actions, regulations, and statutory challenges; founded and led the Employment Litigation Team; and created the Mandamus Task Force for nationwide delay cases. She has published appellate decisions in multiple circuits and contributed to successful Supreme Court petitions and merits briefing. Her work has been recognized with Civil Division awards, including for defending the STEM OPT program, an issue central to U.S. competitiveness in high-skilled fields.

At Colombo & Hurd, Wilson will lead the Federal Immigration Litigation Practice in filing strategic, high-impact cases that protect the broader immigration community, especially when government action threatens due process, fairness, or the statutory framework. The team will also directly challenge improper denials in high-skilled immigration matters, particularly where decisions dismiss expert testimony or probative evidence, apply evidentiary standards too rigidly or incorrectly, or misunderstand the petitioner's field of expertise with the goal of restoring approvals and setting durable precedent.

"Our clients deserve decisive, sophisticated courtroom advocacy when agency action threatens justice," said Rusten Hurd, Founding Partner. "With Sarah's leadership, we're better positioned to resolve critical matters quickly and to advance the legal framework that supports high-skilled immigration to the United States."
