Ethereum Classic – Informationen

Ethereum Classic (Währungskürzel ETC) entstand 2016 durch einen Angriff auf Ethereum.3,6 Millionen Ether wurden durch diesen Angriff unbrauchbar. Um den Vorgang rückgängig zu machen, entschied sich die Community zu einer Abspaltung. So entstanden zwei Blockchains: Die neue Blockchain, die weiterhin als Ethereum bezeichnet wird und die alte Blockchain, die den Namen Ethereum Classic trägt. Ethereum Classic bringt es noch immer auf eine Marktkapitalisierung von 198 Mio.USD. Ethereum ist nach dem Bitcoin die bekannteste Kryptowährung. Als eine dezentralisierte Plattform für Distributed Apps basiert sie auf einer Blockchain. Die Technologie hinter dieser Währung schafft die Grundlage für Smart Contracts, die ihrerseits die Integrität der Güter und die Bezahlung in der Währung Ether (ETH) sicherstellen. Bei Ethereum handelt es sich somit nicht nur um eine digitale Währung, sondern um eine Plattform für verteilte Apps. Die Blockchains von Bitcoin und Ethereum unterscheiden sich u.a. bezüglich der Zeit, die zur Verarbeitung eines Blocks benötigt wird.
