ALBERTSONS TEAMSTERS RATIFY STRONG NEW CONTRACT
Agreement Delivers Major Wage Increases, Improved Benefits, and Job Protections for Over 1,600 Grocery Distribution Workers in California
ORANGE, Calif., Sept. 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- After months of negotiations, more than 1,600 Albertsons drivers, warehouse, clerical, and maintenance workers represented by Teamsters Local 952 have overwhelmingly ratified a powerful new five-year collective bargaining agreement that delivers significant gains in wages, benefits, and job protections.
"We made it clear to Albertsons management that our members would not settle for anything less than a top-tier agreement," said Eric Jimenez, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 952. "This contract reflects the strength and unity of our members. From the beginning, they stood firm and demanded the strongest possible deal."
The agreement provides an immediate $4 per hour wage increase, with raises totaling $10 over the life of the contract. Members also secured a $2 increase in pension contributions and critical language improvements that strengthen working conditions across the bargaining unit.
"We won an outstanding agreement at Albertsons because we showed the company that we were united and would never settle for less," said Ray Oronoz, a 50-year Albertsons driver and Local 952 steward. "The wage and pension improvements we achieved will have a lasting impact on our livelihoods and the future of workers in our industry."
Local 952's agreement at Albertsons follows a series of strong Teamsters contracts at the company nationwide. Most recently, Albertsons workers represented by Local 745 in Dallas ratified a deal that delivered higher wages, a defined-benefit pension plan, and protections against the threat of unsafe autonomous trucks.
"This agreement sets a new standard not only at Albertsons, but across the grocery industry," said Tom Erickson, Director of the Teamsters Warehouse Division. "The gains won by Local 952 will have a real-life impact for more than 1,600 workers and their families, and this contract will serve as a roadmap for Teamsters bargaining power across the grocery sector."
