Finance, science ministers pledge closer cooperation to maximize policy impact

Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol and Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon on Monday agreed to strengthen inter-ministerial cooperation to maximize the effectiveness of government policies, Koo's office said. Koo, who doubles as deputy prime minister for economic affairs, and Bae, who now doubles as deputy prime minister for science and technology, held their first meeting following the elevation of the Ministry of Science and ICT to a deputy prime minister level in a recent government reorganization. "Science and technology are closely linked with economic and industrial development," Koo said during the meeting. He also noted that the comprehensive approach within economic policymaking is essential, considering the significant impact of artificial intelligence (AI), a core agenda item in the current administration's growth strategy.
