PM asks Montana governor to take interest in US visa system improvement

Prime Minister Kim Min-seok met with Gov. Greg Gianforte of the U.S. state of Montana on Monday and asked that he take an interest in the issue of improving the U.S. visa system, Kim's office said. Kim made the request during their meeting at the government complex as calls have grown to change U.S. visa rules to prevent the recurrence of last month's surprise detention of hundreds of Korean workers in the U.S. state of Georgia. "Prime Minister Kim stressed that it is important to guarantee smooth entry and activities for our nationals, including businesspeople and students, in order to create a stable U.S. investment environment and promote people-to-people exchanges," his office said in a press release. "He asked that the state government also take an interest in improving and remedying the U.S. visa system." The two sides also discussed growing trade between Korea and Montana, including in agriculture, energy and advanced technologies, according to the Prime Minister's Office.
