Korea urges US to swiftly begin talks on civil uranium enrichment, spent fuel reprocessing
Korea has urged the United States to swiftly start consultations that could allow the process for Seoul to enrich uranium and reprocess spent nuclear fuel for peaceful uses, the foreign ministry said Tuesday. First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo made the remarks during his talks with Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau in Washington on Monday (local time), the first high-level follow-up dialogue since the release of their joint summit document on trade and security issues on Nov. 14. The two sides also agreed on the need to launch working groups for follow-up talks on nuclear energy and Korea's bid to build nuclear-powered submarines, the ministry said.
