IBU-tec sets up, together with Hosokawa Alpine, a pilot plant for battery recycling at the Weimar site

  • IBU-tec contributes within the partnership know-how in battery material recycling, Hosokawa Alpine provides the necessary machinery
  • Hosokawa Alpine mills also suitable for processing IBU-tec battery materials
  • Strong market growth expected in battery recycling with CAGR of over 50% through 2032

Weimar, September 30, 2025 IBU-tec advanced materials AG (“IBU-tec,” ISIN: DE000A0XYHT5) is continuing to expand its growth segment of battery recycling. Together with the machinery and plant manufacturer Hosokawa Alpine, IBU-tec has set up a pilot plant for the recycling of battery materials at its headquarters in Weimar. As part of the cooperation, IBU-tec will contribute its many years of expertise in efficient recycling processes and offer Hosokawa Alpine's customers solutions for recycling coated cathode foils. Hosokawa Alpine is providing four machines based on milling and screening technology to enable the efficient recycling of battery materials. IBU-tec's innovative mills can also be used to process its own battery materials and for development and service projects with customers in the battery sector. IBU-tec is thus continuing to position itself in the rapidly growing future-proof market of battery recycling. According to studies, the market volume of battery recycling is expected to exceed USD 38 billion in 2032, which corresponds to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 50%. One of the key drivers of growth in the battery recycling market is the EU Battery Regulation. According to this regulation, manufacturers of industrial and electric car batteries are obliged to use recycled battery materials in the production of new battery systems.
