Samsung chairman's top aide to step down from control tower role

Chung Hyun-ho, a Samsung Electronics vice chairman better known as the right-hand man of Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong, will step down from his current post of leading the management control tower of the tech empire and focus on Lee’s secretarial role, according to the company, Friday. The role will be assumed by President Park Hark-kyu, who has held top management support positions across multiple Samsung Electronics divisions. Samsung Electronics announced its executive reshuffle affecting its Business Support Task Force, a behind-the-scenes organization that worked as the de facto decision-making body serving the chairman. Following the reshuffle, the task force will be upgraded into the Business Support Office and will be a standing organization assuming its existing roles and functions — coordinating business between Samsung Electronics and its affiliates and supporting key decision-making processes.
